With the economic crisis that has hit Kenya and most of the world, many businesses have found that they have to adapt or go under. Inflation has hit alarming highs and the cost of doing business has increasingly become unfavourable.
United Will LTD, operating in the harsh Kenyan business climate, with ferocity faced the emerging challenges which seriously affected its niche in the microfinance industry. The default rates had increased and, cosequently, the profitability of the company diminished.
As a result of this, the stake-holders have endorsed the plan to rebrand United Will LTD.
The name APAKA LTD was chosen, which means "the wave" in Luo language.
A major policy shift has also been endorsed by the Stake-holders which will bring about fundamental structural changes.
More about the new concerns will be disclosed with time, but indications are that APAKA LTD is targeting asset rental and trading, and its target population is both the populous and the business comunity in Kenya.

NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGER
Many happy wishes to all our members and clients and may you have a prosperous 2011. I would like to personally thank you for partnering with us in building United Will into the significant financial infrastructure it is now. United will has rescued many from financial difficulties and bridged gaps in finances through the affordable loans it has given to both members and non-members. Indeed many have reported how the loans have come in handy in their time of need. We are committed to stand by your side in your hour of need.
2010 has been a great year for United Will. Savings have been consistent, lending timely and repayment punctual. Members and clients have found most use of our credit facilities with both the Savings and Loans scheme and Outsider lending scheme. With these, we have managed to instill a culture of saving and intelligent use of finances.
We look forward to a great 2011 with continued determination to bring about culture change that will lead to a reduction in poverty and suffering.
We intend to add value to the services we give so that our members and clients are more satisfied. We will introduce a system of integration and earning where members and clients will be trained and enabled to make money with the support of our most able personnel. Aggressive training on financial awareness is also underway that will also benefit members in their personal lives.
May you take bolder steps this year knowing that United Will will be with you to enable you reach your financial goals.
Yours faithfully,
Jonathan O. Okumu
Manager United Will Kenya,
President United Will.
